SYLLABUS AND COURSE LAYOUT
The Syllabus includes:

- Basic & Advanced Riding Principles

- Bits and Bitting
- Stable Organisation & Yard Management
- Turn Out & Show Ring Craft
- Group & Individual Teaching
- Lungeing for Exercise
- Pasture Management
- Principles of competition Riding
- Nutrition & Exercise
- Principles of Breeding & the growing equine
- Principles of Equine Assisted Therapy
- Lungeing for Advancement
- Theory of Teaching

Within the sub titles above, all aspects of horsemanship and
stable management are covered.
Full-time 24 Month Course: Certificate of Horsemastership, Horsemanship and Riding Instructor Level 1 (Old SANEF
modules 1-5)
The 2023/24 Course Fees includes the following:
- Tuition fees and riding lessons with a qualified instructor
- All course notse
- Textbook usage
- The use of the Academy horses and equipment during the 24 months
- Logbook ( hours needed to be loged in the logbook and then handed in for qualification).
Excludes
1. The registration fees and cost of the EQASA exams which must be paid directly to EQASA by the student.
2. Fees to and from Show Competitions, transport of horses, travelling to examination venues, accommodation, attire,
stationary, text books, petrol, First Aid Course, field trips are for the student as well as affiliation fees to a Regional Body eg. NW.
3.Student meals & all personal student items.
After successful completion of the EQASA Exams the following levels of national qualifications are obtained:
1. EQASA Certificate of Stable Yard Skills stage 1 (module 1)
2. EQASA Certificate of Stable Yard Skills stage 2 (module 2)
3. EQASA Certificate of Horsemanship (module 3)
4. EQASA Certificate of Horsemanship & Prelimanary riding Instructor (module 4)
5. EQASA Certificate of Horsmanship and rinding instructor level 1 (module 5)
Other Exams written:
First Aid:
EQASA requires the student to hold a valid First Aid certificate before being awarded the EQASA level One Teaching certificate.
To facilitate this, we allow a recognised First Aid facility to present a three day course and the students are awarded a certificate, which is valid for three years, on attaining a pass mark. The fee is determined by the facility and is payable directly to them.

Careers:
Some of the Career paths after successful completion of the course include amongst others:
- Professional Groom
- Equestrian Centre/Stable Yard Manager
- Assistant Instructor
- Advanced Instructor
- Trail Guide
- Tourism
- Position at a Racing Yard and many more.
The National Instructor’s plan has identified approximately twenty two major career paths (riding and non-riding) in the Equestrian & Equine Industry.

The National Instructor’s plan has identified approximately fourteen major career paths (riding and non-riding) in the Equestrian & Equine Industry.
Throughout the enrolled course-year, students are evaluated on an ongoing basis. The syllabus is worked through systematically.
By the end of the course-year, students will have completed in part or in full, the syllabus, according to their individual riding/jumping/practical and theoretical capability.

Part-time Course(Internet based/ Distance learning): Stable Yard Management (EQASA modules 1-3)
This is only for learner that work at horse yards.
The 2023/24 Course fees include the following:
- Assignments
- Course foot notes(work books)
- Preparations/Mock exams
- News letters
- Assessment of videos
- All correspondence with EQASA
- The availability of a answering questions over the phone
